Research Interests:

Immunotherapy is an emerging first-line treatment to target advanced cancer, with the potential to reach long-lasting regression and cure. Most solid tumors respond to immunotherapy to a variable degree, however, the majority of patients experience resistance to therapy followed by relapse. The group ‘Multiscale Immunoimaging’ combines advanced microscopic techniques with state-of-the-art macroscopic imaging to gain mechanistic insight in kinetics and function of immunotherapies at the cellular and whole-body scale. The visualization of immunotherapy response in live tumor tissue and over time allows the identification of tissue-specific resistance niches and rationales for improved cancer immunotherapies.
