Dr. Swati Piramal is the inaugural President of the Molecular Imaging Society of India (MISI).
Dr. Swati Piramal, Vice Chairperson of Piramal Enterprises Limited, is one of India’s leading scientists and industrialists and is involved in healthcare, focusing on public health and innovation. She has served on the Scientific Advisory Council of the Prime Minister of India, and the Prime Minister’s Council of Trade. She is on the Dean’s Advisory Board of both Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Business School. Dr. Piramal has received one of France’s highest honors -“Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Merite” (Knight of the Order of Merit) in 2006, for medicine and trade. She was nominated one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in India, eight times in succession, from 2003 until 2011 and was nominated to the Hall of Fame of Most Powerful Women in Business in 2011. She was awarded the BMA Management Woman Achiever of the Year Award (2004-05), and is a recipient of the Lakshmipat Singhania-IIM, Lucknow National Leadership Award. In 2012, Dr. Piramal received the Padma Shri at the hands of the President of India. Dr. Piramal was the Commencement Speaker at the Harvard School of Public Health in 1992 and was elected a Member of the Harvard Board of Overseers in 2012. She has received the Alumni Merit Award, the highest award bestowed on Alumni from Harvard.
