Special Poster Opportunity: NAMs Implementation in Preclinical Imaging
As NIH and international agencies shift toward New Approach Methodologies (NAMs)—such as organ-on-a-chip systems, computational modeling, and AI— to decrease the use of animal testing in medical research, WMIS is organizing a curated poster session at WMIC 2025 to highlight how the molecular imaging community is adapting.
We are seeking forward-thinking poster contributions that demonstrate real-world readiness, implementation strategies, and institutional leadership in integrating NAMs into preclinical imaging workflows.
This session is not intended for commentary alone. We aim to showcase global examples, frameworks, and case studies that can inform and inspire the broader imaging science community.
Ideal submissions include:
- Imaging-based validation of organoid and tissue-engineered models
- Use of computational models/AI to complement and potentially replace animal validation (e.g. digital twins) in radiotracer/drug studies.
- Integration of molecular imaging with organ-on-chip or lab-on-chip systems
- Pilot studies combining imaging with NAMs (e.g., computational, organoid, or microfluidic platforms)
- Application of imaging tools directly within NAM-based workflows (“Imaging on NAMs”)
- Strategies for validating NAMs using imaging
- International efforts that promote innovation while reducing reliance on animal models
Submissions may include relevant recently published examples of NAMs’ applications, related programmatic efforts, or implementation case studies in molecular imaging. All submissions will be reviewed by a focused group dedicated to integration of NAMs with molecular imaging workflows.
Poster Submission Deadline: August 29th, 2025
