WMIS has been in close contact with Honolulu city officials concerning the predicted weather forecast. We have been advised that the projected path of both hurricane Ignacio and hurricane Jimena have turned to move more to the north of the islands and at this time based on current predictions, Honolulu will not be hit directly. We do however, anticipate rains and wind, so pack accordingly.
Message from Hawaii Convention Center General Manager
A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for Hawaii County and Maui County. Although Ignacio is weakening, the state could begin to feel the impacts as early as Monday evening. As of now it looks like the hurricane is moving north of the islands and the forecast for Oahu looks to be that of a “tropical storm” (wind and rain). So far no flights have been announced as “cancelled” by any of our airline partners. For official updates, we recommend regularly checking the following websites, as well as tuning in to local broadcasts for information and instructions on Ignacio:
