COVID-19 Update: Letter to members from WMIS Executive Committee

Dear Molecular Imaging Community:

Our hearts and best wishes go out to you, your colleagues, partners, families, and friends during this difficult time. This is truly uncharted territory, and we want you to know we are here to support you.
After much consideration we have decided to move forward with planning WMIC October 7-10, 2020 in Prague, Czech Republic. We understand that world events are moving and changing rapidly and we will continue to monitor the COVID-19 crisis as we approach the WMIC dates. It is our intention to create a global platform to showcase your science.
The WMIS board is aware of the hardships placed on your labs and therefore would like to offer:

  • Free WMIC registration to all students who are WMIS members and submit an abstract for WMIC 2020 in Prague*
  • Extra time, if needed, to submit your WMIC Abstract**
  • A commitment to communicate, as best we can, the value of our industry partners

It is time to stand strong, stand together, and work on strategies to keep our field, including both academic and industry partners, viable. And of course, we want to keep the world informed of the brilliant science from the Molecular Imaging community.
Please let us know how you are doing and how we can help. We wish you well and hope you and your families and loved ones stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

The WMIS Executive Committee

*Free registration for WMIS Student Members
WMIS is offering all students who are WMIS members and submit an abstract a free registration to WMIC. This includes and is limited to a full registration: pre-meetings, and the full WMIC meeting being held on October 7-10, 2020. Student members who submit an abstract are eligible to receive a travel award. This does not include a gala ticket. Student members include graduate students, postdoctoral researchers (up to 3 years from their post-graduate degree (PhD and/or MD)), residents, and those in a fellowship program.

**Flexible Abstract Deadline
WMIS is extending the abstract deadline to June 10, 2020 and giving you flexibility in this time of crisis. If you can submit by April 22nd, we strongly encourage you to do so. This will allow us to have adequate time to review abstracts from colleagues who need additional time to gather data. If you plan to submit on June 10th, log into the WMIS portal and go to:  2020 General Abstract Submission, fill in your category and subcategory, and let us know you will be submitting on or before June 10th. This will allow us to better manage our review system and our program. We thank you and look forward to presentations on your exciting new science. Questions? Contact us at WMIS@WMIS.org
