WMIC 2026 | Member-Initiated Sessions
Call for Proposals: Member-Initiated Sessions
WMIC 2026 introduces Member-Initiated Sessions, a new opportunity for WMIS members to contribute directly to the Congress program. These sessions are intended to complement the core scientific program, highlight emerging topics, and bring forward diverse perspectives from across the molecular imaging community.
DEADLINE APRIL 6th 2026
- Member-Initiated Sessions are 90-minute sessions scheduled within the afternoon program (Wednesday–Friday).
- Proposals may be scientific (workshop, hot topic, education, etc.) or community-focused in nature (networking, meet and greet, mentoring, etc.).
- Sessions should be designed to engage a broad WMIC audience through clear structure, strong content, and, where appropriate, interactive elements.
Proposals should:
- Address timely topics relevant to the WMIC community
- Align with the meeting theme: Driving Discovery to Impact
- Complement existing program content
- Reflect diverse perspectives across disciplines, career stages, and regions
- Deliver a clear and engaging experience for attendees
Each proposal should include:
- Session title and brief description
- Proposed format and structure
- Tentatively confirmed speakers
- 2–3 learning objectives
- Speakers should be planning to attend WMIC 2026
WMIS does not provide honoraria, travel, or accommodation support
Speakers may participate in only one Member-Initiated Session
Each member may organize one session
Session organizers are responsible for inviting speakers, developing the session format, and moderating the session (or identifying a moderator).
Approved sessions will be paired with a member of the WMIC Program Committee for guidance and finalization.
Proposals will be reviewed by the WMIC Program Committee. Selection will be based on:
Relevance and timeliness
Alignment with the meeting theme and overall program
Diversity and interdisciplinarity of perspectives
Quality of the proposed session format and audience engagement
Due to program capacity, a limited number of sessions will be included in the 2026 program.
Important Consideration: Proposed sessions should be distinct from existing Immersion Sessions and Interest Group Workshops.
Who can submit a proposal?
Any WMIS member may submit a proposal.
What topics are already included in the 2026 program?
Member-Initiated Sessions should complement the existing program. Below is an overview of current Immersion Session and Workshop topics to help guide proposal development.
Immersion Session Themes:
- Spatial Biology and Cellular Imaging
- Imaging Therapeutic Response
- AI in Molecular Imaging and Therapy Discovery
- Translational Imaging and NAMs
Workshop Topics:
- Nanoparticles and Synthesis of Magnetic Particles
- Integrating NAMs into Preclinical Workflow
- Enabling Informed Drug Development Decisions via Molecular Imaging
- Recent innovations in pathogen-specific infection imaging
- Debates in Molecular Imaging of Cardiovascular Disease (Is FDG PET still the best tool for imaging vascular inflammation? and Will next-generation molecular probes outperform traditional metabolic imaging?)
- Optical Surgical Navigation (regulatory strategies and approvals, new tracers, new targets, and clinical applications)
- Session Title P41 Centers and the Art of Collaboration Driving Scientific Innovation
- Clinical Translation of Imaging in Cell and Immune Therapies – Current Status and Future Directions
- Academic and Industry Workshop (career paths, application and visibility, networking, interviewing and negotiation, and skills and requirements for a successful start)
- Empowerment, Support, and Growth
- Synthetic Biology & Molecular Imaging
- Sex as a Biological Variable (SABV) in Molecular Imaging: From Oversight to Essential Scientific Rigor
Do speakers need to be confirmed in advance?
Speakers should be tentatively confirmed at the time of submission and aware that their speaking engagement is contingent on proposal acceptance.
Can I serve as both organizer and speaker?
Yes, organizers may also serve as speakers or moderators.
When will sessions be scheduled?
Sessions will take place during afternoon programming (Wednesday–Friday). Specific scheduling will be determined after acceptance.
What happens if my proposal is not selected?
Strong proposals may be considered for other WMIS programming opportunities or future meetings.
Who can I contact with questions?
Please contact Ashley Wren at AWren@wmis.org with any questions.
