Call for Abstracts for WMIC 2016 – March 2, 2016 Deadline
CULVER CITY, Calif., February 10, 2016 – The 9th annual meeting of the World Molecular Imaging Society (WMIS), known as the World Molecular Imaging Congress (WMIC), will be held in New York City, NY on September 7 – 10, 2016. The theme for the 2016 meeting is “Imaging Biology…Improving Therapy.” The congress will highlight and emphasize how imaging reveals a greater understanding of the biology of disease, refines and accelerates the development of effective therapies, improves guidance for efficacious therapy and allows more informative outcome decisions.
The WMIC will feature more than 170 oral presentations and more than 1,000 scientific poster presentations. The WMIC Scientific Program Committee is currently accepting abstract submissions in the following emphases: Probes and Targets, Preclinical Imaging, New Biology, and First-in-Human & Clinical Studies and in the categories of Neuroscience, Oncology, Cardiology, Inflammation & Infectious Disease and Metabolic Disease; Instrumentation, Computation & Omics; and Transdisciplinary Imaging. “The 2016 Program for the Congress in New York has been designed to push the envelope in both biology and medicine and bridge scientific disciplines. We aim to address the most compelling scientific questions and meet the most pressing unmet medical needs,” said Christopher Contag, Ph.D., Professor, Stanford University and President, WMIS 2016. “The program spans non-invasive imaging to in vivo microscopy, basic research to clinical studies, and academic research to the commercialization of our greatest innovations. We have put together a program for WMIC 2016 that embraces the foundations of molecular imaging including chemistry, biology, medicine and engineering, and yet pushes the limits of the field by reaching into those new areas of research that are changing paradigms in biology and medicine.”
The WMIS’s roots date back to the early 90s and has built a robust scientific and educational mission through mergers of several forward-thinking societies that were formed with the aim of expanding the Molecular Imaging footprint around the globe. From these early beginnings, the WMIS has become the only organization to focus on multimodality molecular imaging and have the greatest impact on basic science, preclinical and translational research.
“Our aim is to develop novel imaging tools that help us to better characterize and understand biology, pathogenesis and disease progression,” said Fabian Kiessling, M.D., Professor, University of Aachen, Germany, and Program Chair, WMIC 2016. “The resulting imaging methods will play an important role in linking basic research to clinical applications and will improve precision therapy.”
